|
The High School Students Institute of Mathematics and Informatics (HSSI) was founded in September 2000 as one of the initiatives in Bulgaria in the celebration of the World Mathematical Year 2000. The mission of the HSSI is to attract academically talented high school students for research like work in the field of Mathematics and Computer Sciences and to assist them on a long-term base to develop the leaders in science and technologies. The idea stems from the long-term collaboration between the Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) in Virginia, USA, (www.cee.org), and the St. Cyril and St. Methodius International Foundation in Sofia, Bulgaria. HSSI was founded by the Union of Bulgarian Mathematicians, the Cyril and Methodius Foundation, Evrika Foundation, (www.evrika.org), and the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics at the Bulgarian Academy of Science, (www.math.bas.bg).
