UNITED WORLD COLLEGES

This program is aimed at supporting excellent Bulgarian high-school students to continue their last two years of secondary education abroad under the prestigious International Baccaloreate curriculum.

Each year the Foundation supports 8-10 Bulgarian students selected after a nationwide rigorous competition to continue their secondary education at the United World Colleges in Italy, Canada, USA, Norway, India or Hong Kong. The selection procedure is based on merit and high academic achievements of applying students. The competition includes tests in English language, physics and chemistry, mathematics, and biology. It ends with essay writing and a personal interview.

This program has been running for more than 15 years now and has turned to a prestigious national competition. Each year between 100 and 200 of the best high-school students in Bulgaria enter the contest.

During the years, the Foundation has invested so far over 325,000 USD of its own funds. The leverage funding, in terms of scholarships and tuition fees, is times higher.

The Bulgarians who graduate at the United World Colleges usually continue their university studies at the most prestigious educational institutions, i.e. Harvard University, Yale University, Princeton University, etc.
