Prof. Dr. PETER FISCHER-APPELT

Prof. Dr.theol. Peter Fischer-Appelt was the President of the University of Hamburg, Germany, from 1970 to 1991. Representing his university he assisted in establishing a broad cooperation with “St. Kliment Ohridski” University, Sofia in 1978. He is also a co-founder of the Foundation and held responsibility in its Auditing Council from 1982 to 1992, President (1992-1998) and Honorary President (since 1998). He received honorary degrees from three Bulgarian and three American universities (LHD, LittD, LLD). Among his other awards are the Golden Medal of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the medal Pro Cultura Hungarica, the medal of the Commission of National Education of the Republic of Poland and the medal PRO MERITO of the Council of Europe.

Kenderov

Acad. PETAR S. KENDEROV

Bulgarian scientist in the field of mathematics. He studied mathematics and graduated the Moscow State University, Russia. His whole scientific carrier is connected with his active work at the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics to the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. He chaired the Bulgarian Higher Attestation Commission to the Council of Ministers for two consecutive terms. He has a large number of scientific publications mainly in the fields of topology, functional analysis and optimization. Acad. Kenderov is one of the founders of the first International Olympiad in Computer Science for highschool students. He is also a member of the Council, President (1998-2013) and Honorary President (since 2014) of the Foundation. The South-West University conferred him a doctor honoris causa degree.
